Lake Placid has a friendly, hometown atmosphere with friendly folks and business owners. It is filled with many fun and interesting things to do. It is the "Caladium Capital of the World" with beautiful caladium fields and a Caladium festival in August of each year. It is also known as the "Town of Murals" with 42 hand painted murals, including Melvin Dewey of New York, known for changing the name of then, Lake Stearns to Lake Placid back in 1928. Since Lake Placid is also known for Citrus & Cattle, there is even the ever so popular Cattlemen’s mural with sound effects. There are also numerous antique shops and you may even get greeted by a clown as you walk down the sidewalks of Main Street & Interlake Boulevard.

In nearby Sebring, (less than 15 minutes away) you can visit on of the state's award winning parks, Highlands Hammock State Park. For your cultural interests there is Highlands Little Theatre, the Cultural Center, the Highlands County Art League, the Sebring International Raceway and a regional airport. There is also plenty of shopping and many great restaurants. You will surely enjoy the Highlands Children’s Museum with your children and grandchildren. South Florida Community College also offers a musical enrichment series with well-known talents.

Highlands Hammock is one of Florida's oldest parks, opening to the public in 1931. Many visitors enjoy bicycling or hiking along the park's nine trails. An elevated boardwalk traverses an old-growth cypress swamp. For equestrians, there is an 11-mile, day-use trail. Highlands Hammock offers a full-facility campground. A full-service restaurant is located on the park grounds.

There are over 80 named lakes in Highlands County, many with access for fishing, boating, water skiing or swimming.

Across the street from the Lake June West Townhomes is Lake June Golf Club. The Lake June Golf Club offer 9 holes of golf, swimming, tennis courts and club house.

Here you will find the pro shop and swimming pool both overlooking the 9 hole golf course and Lake June.

There are over a dosen golf courses in the area, including Lake June Golf Club located across the street from Lake June West, most of which are championship ranked.
